Residential Solar Consumer Protection: Policy, Education, and Practices

The solar industry, enforcement agencies, lawmakers, and other stakeholders have pushed for policies to ensure a high-quality customer experience, especially in light of industry bankruptcies, issues with marketing practices, interconnection delays, and complaints about door-to-door sales. However, with the passing of H.R. 1 and upcoming changes to the residential solar landscape, it is more important than ever to ensure consumers are receiving reliable and trustworthy information. Initiatives to promote a strong customer experience include consumer education, industry coordination, engaging in state policy development, and releasing national standards.
