Everything’s BigDER in Texas: ERCOT’s Aggregated DER Pilot

ERCOT was the first RTO to approve an aggregated distributed energy resource (ADER) pilot program in 2022, and today, several projects are already delivering. ERCOT has ambitions to aggregate over 80 MWs and integrate smart thermostats and other residential devices into these efforts. This panel discusses how DER aggregations work from the panel to DERMS, what opportunities this pilot project brings to the distributed energy market, and what considerations need to be made for deploying these programs in low-income communities.
